First of all, a quick shout out to Kelly Heyboer for linking to my blog about the Police concert. I guess I wasn’t the only one to see it, or blog about it for that matter. Anyhow- stop over there and check out some of the more in depth reviews she has linked to, as well as the great concert video footage she has posted.
As for the Update: the phone number I put up in my earlier post announcing my Campaign to Defend America From the Bogus Campaign to Defend America actually refers you to another number, which is: (202)454-6200. All jokes aside, I do urge everyone who agrees with me that this group’s tactics are sneaky and unethical to call and register your complaint and ask to be taken off the list. They need to know they can no longer inject their unwanted opinions and ideas into our homes through automated recordings over the phone. I mean, geesh- at least send me a letter so I can have the satisfaction of ripping it up, throwing it in the trash and adding to the pollution of the earth….

[...] with the so-called “Campaign to Defend America” is that there is nothing to report. When I called them on August 9th I left a message on their voicemail that was polite yet firm, stating my name, my phone number and [...]

Just thought I’d let you know that I sent this out a couple weeks ago, and haven’t heard back. Is this polite enough?
I’d love to show up at a Democrat rally with a sign that states: “I support the team, but I don’t support the ballgame, I don’t support the coach, I don’t support the commissioner, I don’t support the league, the fans are ‘misguided’ and have been ‘manipulated,’ and all I want is for them to FORFEIT mid-game and come home!”
Here’s the email:
I was directed to this email address from someone with a gripe about phone calls from a group calling themselves Campaign to Defend America.
I have seen the televised ads, with children in military gear, and an ominous message warning us to prepare our children for a never-ending war. I don’t like that commercial, because it (like most political commercials) has no basis in fact whatsoever. I don’t like it when anyone tries to ‘scare’ me into thinking a certain way. I prefer to make decisions based upon facts than on emotions. Making decisions based upon emotions, especially those involving the welfare of fellow countrymen, is at best irresponsible.
My question is: Why does this group call itself the Campaign to Defend America, when what it asks is for us to STOP defending America? Or, perhaps you’re using the word defense in a different manner than the dictionary meaning?
Here’s how I view those who say, “I support the troops, but I don’t support the war, I don’t support the general(s), I don’t support the president, and all I want is for our troops to QUIT and come home.”
It’s like holding up a banner that says, “I support the team, but I don’t support the ballgame, I don’t support the coach, I don’t support the commissioner, I don’t support the league, the fans are ‘misguided’ and have been ‘manipulated,’ and all I want is for them to FORFEIT mid-game and come home!”
Aren’t these the SAME people who, in 1991, criticized Bush 41 for not pulling the troops out soon enough, and when he gave in to their demands, turned and blamed him for the subsequent slaughter of innocent people? Am I the only person who remembers this? What makes you think that the exact same type of slaughter wouldn’t happen this time?
Maybe we should have quit in 1944 when the going got tough.

Well said kbear24. The problem is they don’t care about people like us- to them we are a lost cause. They are aiming at the weak minded, or those who don’t pay as close attention to what is really going on as we do. They target those who regard politics as a part of pop culture- those who swallow whatever they are fed through the “main-stream” (liberal) media and hollywood… what does the truth and what is right matter as long as they can accomplish their misguided goals? They are after the sheep, and they won’t answer our calls or emails because they know we are right, and they cannot sway us, so why waste time and resources on us, just keep going after the sheep…

These assholes call and leave a message on my phone (even though I’m on the no-call list) and then don’t even leave their contact information so that I can call them back and tell them they are assholes. What is this world coming to?
You are completely right, uranass. My sister just got discharged from the Army, she’s a nurse in Germany and she and your son are the one’s defending America, not these pansies who waste my fucking cell phone minutes with their bullshit.
Asking me to call my congressman, Mike Rogers and tell him he’s a jerk when in fact he is one of the VERY few politicians whom I do respect…makes me so freaking angry.
